Iconic is Rolland & Galarreta's flagship red, built from 40-year-old Tempranillo vines — 87% of the blend, with small additions of Garnacha and Graciano — fermented whole-bunch and finished at a formidable 14.5% ABV.

The wine has picked up real recognition beyond the winery's own marketing: an International Wine Challenge Bronze for the 2016 vintage, and a Decanter Gold at 95 points in a later review.

At Cork Pop Brothers, it's available only by the case — six bottles in the original wooden case it left the bodega in.

    2016 will likely be remembered as one of Rioja's greatest vintages in a generation. A long harvest, stretching over two months, let the grapes ripen slowly and fully, producing wines with real depth and structure, fine tannins, and none of the heaviness that hotter years can bring.
