Marsannay Clos du Roy

Once called Clos des Ducs - the Duke's Enclosure - and renamed Clos du Roy, the King's Enclosure, in 1477 after Burgundy's last duke, Charles the Bold, fell in battle and the region passed to the French crown. It's the northernmost, and by most accounts finest, named parcel in Marsannay.
Vintages
- 2019
A standout across the board: warm, dry growing conditions delivered a rare combination of ripeness, concentration and the acidity to balance it, in both reds and whites.
- 2018
A hot year with an early harvest and big volumes. Concentrated, ripe, immediately pleasurable wines in both colours - the surprise is how many turned out crisper than a warm vintage usually allows.
- 2017
The relief vintage after 2016's frost losses: generous volumes, an early harvest, and both colours turning out lighter, fresher and more approachable than usual. Whites were especially successful across most villages.
