R.D. Champagne
by Bollinger
Champagne
R.D. stands for "Recemment Degorge" - recently disgorged. Madame Lily Bollinger invented the idea in the 1960s: age a Champagne twice as long as a normal vintage wine, then disgorge it just before release rather than years earlier, so it reaches the customer with both real age and real freshness intact. Bollinger was also the first house bold enough to print the actual disgorgement date on the front label.
Vintages
- 2008
Widely considered one of the finest Champagne vintages of the 21st century: razor-sharp acidity, real minerality, and the kind of aging potential that made houses like Salon build entire mythologies around it.
