Clos du Mesnil

by Krug

Champagne (Mesnil-sur-Oger)

A single walled plot in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, walled since 1698, that Remi and Henri Krug acquired in the early 1970s and used to do the opposite of everything else the house stands for: one plot, one grape, one harvest, bottled alone. Even in a good year it's barely 13,000 bottles, and a single bottle regularly clears $1,800-2,000.

Vintages

  • 2008

Widely considered one of the finest Champagne vintages of the 21st century: razor-sharp acidity, real minerality, and the kind of aging potential that made houses like Salon build entire mythologies around it.
