Les Suchots is the largest Premier Cru in Vosne-Romanee, and it sits in about the best possible neighbourhood a Premier Cru can have - wedged between the Grand Crus Richebourg and Romanee-Saint-Vivant, with Echezeaux just to the north. Serious Burgundy writers regularly name it the strongest candidate in the village for a future promotion to Grand Cru. Locals say it takes the richness of Richebourg and the finesse of Romanee-Saint-Vivant and finds something in between - grown here on Charles Lachaux's family estate, on some of the most prized ground the domaine farms.
