A small Premier Cru - just three hectares - sitting directly beneath the Grand Crus Mazis-Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Beze. The soil here runs deeper and clay-heavier than the famous slopes just above it, which tends to soften the wine: Cherbaudes is known for a rounder, more approachable style of Gevrey-Chambertin than its imposing neighbours, built more on red fruit than power.

The smallest Burgundy vintage in thirty years, hit hard by spring frost. What survived is cool-climate, classical Burgundy: lighter, moderate in alcohol, with a firm mineral core - built for drinking sooner rather than for the very long haul, and always going to be hard to find given how little was made.
