Dominus Estate
by Dominus
Napa Valley (Yountville)
Grown on Napanook, a vineyard first planted in 1836 by Yountville's own founder - some of the oldest continuously farmed ground in Napa. Christian Moueix, of the family behind Petrus, partnered with the vineyard's owners in 1982 on Robert Mondavi's own recommendation, released the first Dominus vintage in 1983, and built a striking Herzog & de Meuron winery around it in 1997. Bordeaux pedigree, applied patiently to genuinely old California vines.
Vintages
- 2016
The fifth consecutive outstanding Napa vintage in a run of exceptional years - widely ranked just behind 2013 as the finest of that decade, with a fresher, more 'hydrated' fruit profile than the hot, dry vintages immediately before it.
- 2015
A hot, early, low-yield vintage that nonetheless produced excellent, concentrated Napa Cabernet - fruity and flavorful, with the fine tannins and freshness to age well despite the small crop.
