Argiano

Argiano's history runs back to 1581, and its name may go back further still — local tradition ties it to Ara Jani, a temple once dedicated to the Roman god Janus on the same hill. The Pecci family later built the Villa Bellaria here, turning the estate into a center of both wine and culture during the Renaissance.

Argiano was one of the founding estates of the 1967 consortium that legally created the Brunello di Montalcino appellation — present at the actual invention of the wine, not just a later arrival to it. Nearly six decades on, its 2018 Brunello was named Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year for 2023.
